Drainage Dilemma to Patio Perfection

In the city of Norwood, a home faced a persistent problem with water seepage around the cellar door. The issue stemmed from the surrounding area sloping towards the basement egress stairway. This design flaw was effectively funneling stormwater directly into the home and towards the foundation. Over time, this can cause:

After discussing the situation, we determined that the most effective drainage solution could include a new patio. By re-grading and correctly sloping the area, we could both resolve the water issue and provide the homeowners with additional outdoor space for entertaining or parking.
 

Since the storm doors would not allow for the necessary slope in the concrete our plan initially included the installation of a trench drain to manage excess water flow. The homeowner opted instead to remove the basement storm doors. Thus, we were able to achieve the required slope without the need for additional drainage.

This adjustment solved the problem and cut costs, allowing us to pass the savings directly to the homeowners. We always seek the most cost-effective and durable solutions, treating our customers as we would want to be treated.
